Thomas Underhill is a Senior Director for Oracle, where he leads product development efforts in emerging technologies. He is also in inventor with a patent pending. Immediately prior to Oracle, he was an executive for a cloud startup, where he developed innovative Software as a Service (SaaS) and tablet-based elections management and voting systems. Thomas was frequently called upon to architect solutions to problems faced by state governments, and filed provisional patent applications for inventions related to the elections industry. He has also served as the Director of Global Operations for OpenMarket (an Amdocs subsidiary) and as a Senior Manager for a mid-sized SaaS company (Active.com), where he architected various solutions. Thomas was also the founder of the Active.com Technology Advisory Board, and spearheaded initiatives to improve technology and reduce costs. He and his team won the 2010 Champions of Innovation award for introducing containerized computing and automation technologies to reduce technology costs by over $3.5 million annually. Earlier in his career, Thomas served as an architect for PayPal and eBay, where he worked on large-scale computing platforms, systems automation technologies, API development, and anti-fraud automation technologies. Prior to this, Thomas worked for the University of California - Riverside in the Computing and Communications Department supporting Research Computing Systems. He has also worked for Electronic Data Systems (HP Enterprise Services) in various technical and leadership roles for various commercial clients, and government clients like the Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Defense, and Department of Education.
