    Dr. Jim Dimarogonas serves as portfolio manager for the Space Communications and Networking Portfolio in the MITRE Corporation’s Center for National Security (CNS).

    Over the past decade, Dr. Jim Dimarogonas has been supporting the Air Force Space and Missile systems Center (SMC) on space based communications and networks; ground based networks supporting military space missions; enterprise level SATCOM Architecture studies; and design of secure communication systems.  This includes the study of commercial and military payloads, terminals, protected communication services and SATCOM acquisition practices.

    Since joining MITRE in 1999, Jim has been a leader and technical contributor for several satellite activities and programs, including project leader for the Transformational Satellite Communication System (TSAT); Chief Engineer for the NII Network Centric Capability Portfolio Management program under the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for C3 Space and Spectrum; Project leader for several DARPA and Army R&D intelligence and information security programs; and project leader for several SATCOM terminal programs for the Army, Navy and Air Force such as FAB-T, WIN-T and JTRS.

    Jim received a BS and MS in Mechanical engineering in 1994 and an MS and PhD. in System Science and Applied Mathematics in 2000 with concentration in signal processing and control systems, all from Washington University in St Louis; and an MBA from University of California Irvine with concentration in Public Policy. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a Certified Information Systems Information Security Professional (CISSP), and holds a graduate certificate in Information Systems Security from the University of California Irvine.

    Jim has published 22 articles and several major MITRE Technical Reports in the areas of Secure Communications and Networking, Secure Satellite Communications, Intelligence and Information Security Systems and Homeland Security systems.
